Rare 1955 The Hague water project brochure with striking design

Price

€ 175,00

In 1955 it was perfectly acceptable to open a brochure about drinking water with a Lord Byron quote. And as if that weren’t enough, it is illustrated with striking photomontages.

The brochure described the so-called Lekduinplan. The Lekduinplan was a major infrastructure project carried out in 1949-1955 to secure and improve the drinking water supply for The Hague and its surroundings. The plan involved transporting river water from the Lek to the coastal dunes near The Hague, where it would be naturally purified through infiltration before being distributed as drinking water.

A rare and visually compelling piece of Dutch design history, with no copies in WorldCat.
