Modernist brochure designed by Frits Stapel, unrecorded

Price

€ 325,00

A rare example of Dutch industrial promotion through a modernist lens.

Frits Stapel (1910–1987), best known for his sculptural work in The Hague, left behind a small but striking body of graphic design. In the 1940s and ’50s, he designed publications for the Nederlandsche Kabelfabriek, working in a visual idiom reminiscent of his predecessor Piet Zwart, including the use of photomontages. His graphic output appears to be rare and little documented.

This unrecorded brochure, designed for the Centraal Instituut voor Industrieontwikkeling (CIVI), reflects the modernist aesthetics of postwar Dutch graphic design. Active from 1951 to 1970, CIVI played a crucial intermediary role between government and industry, promoting innovation and advising on industrial projects.
