Rare Jewish book prospectuses from Pre-Holocaust Germany (1920s–1930s)

A compelling collection of nine rare prospectuses advertising German-Jewish publications from the 1920s and 1930s—ephemeral printed materials that survived against all odds.

These fragile flyers, postcards, bookmarks, and folded sheets offer a rare and highly evocative glimpse into Jewish intellectual and cultural life in Germany just before the rise of Nazism and the devastation of Kristallnacht.

The collection includes:

• A 1937 handbill for a lecture in Mannheim by Rabbi Max Grünewald, promoting his travelogue Amerika. Bericht einer Reise.

• A subscription flyer for the Deutsche Israelitische Zeitung and its supplement Die Laubhütte.

• A postcard and two bookmarks promoting the Jewish book club Der Heine-Bund, active from 1926 to 1931.

• A four-page prospectus for Erwin Manuel Dreifuss’s Die Familiennamen der Juden (Frankfurt, 1927).

• A promotional leaflet for P.J. Kohn’s Rabbinischer Humor (1930).

• An eight-page, illustrated prospectus for Elkan Nathan Adler’s Von Ghetto zu Ghetto.

• A prospectus for Lehmann’s Jüdische Volksbücherei, promoting popular Jewish literature.

Each piece in this collection is scarce (or even unique). Together, they offer insight into Jewish publishing, outreach, and cultural engagement during one of the most turbulent periods in modern history.
