An original press pass from the 1898 Second Zionist Congress

Price

€ 750,00

An original press pass from the Second Zionist Congress (Basel, 1898) offering a tangible link to a pivotal moment in the modern Zionist movement.

Chaired by Theodor Herzl, this historic assembly was crucial in establishing the Jewish Colonial Trust to fund the Zionist project and formalized the movement's organizational structure.

Notably, it marked a significant step towards gender equality, being the first Zionist Congress to grant women full voting rights, and also saw the admission of socialist delegations.

The present press card belonged to a journalist named Broch, apparently a stenographer.

Such press credentials are scarce survivals, providing direct access to the vibrant media coverage and fervent debates that shaped the vision for a Jewish homeland in Palestine.
