Zürich, gedruckt in der Bürcklischen Truckerey, [1734]. 4to. [12] pp. Contemporary gold-brocade wrappers. In good condition. The wrappers slightly worn, the spine with a small tear reaching into the gutter margin.

 

Second copy located of a list of 'Schultheißen' and other officials in Winterthur, Switzerland, bound in lovely gold-brocade wrappers, initialled "SR" at the back.

 

In many German speaking countries a 'Schultheiß' was the head of a municipality, who acted as the executive official of the ruler and oversaw the payment of taxes. The author, Johann Georg Den(t)zler (1708-1779), was a Zurich bookbinder who ran a small shop selling books, pamphlets and stationary.
