Black Dog rectangle text (1).jpg

Satirical broadside on boozing

Price

€ 150,00

An unrecorded and anonymous broadside, probably printed in the Netherlands around 1800. The satirical text, in an attractive woodcut frame, purports to be a passport given to a "drunkard". Should the bearer of the pass fall into a canal, ditch, toilet, gutter, or manure pile, his drinking brethren are supposed to help him.

[The Netherlands, ca. 1800].

Half-sheet folio broadside (ca. 33,5 x 20,5 cm). Edges slightly frayed, waterstain in right upper corner, a small hole.
