Nach Galiläa! A rare German Zionist emigration leaflet
€ 175,00
A rare leaflet representing an interesting piece of pre-Holocaust Zionist propaganda.
Published by the Keren Kajemeth Lejisrael (Jewish National Fund e.V.) in Berlin around 1937, it powerfully urged German Jews to emigrate to Galilee in British Mandate Palestine and to support the JNF's land acquisition efforts.
Elegantly designed and set in Paul Renner’s iconic Futura typeface and illustrated with photographs, the leaflet served as an urgent call to Aliyah amidst rising antisemitism in Germany. It compellingly explains Galilee's agricultural potential and stresses the immediate need for emigration, stating: "da die Errichtung seines eigenen Staates in greifbare Nähe rückt" ("as the establishment of a Jewish nation draws near").
This piece offers a poignant glimpse into the Zionist movement's efforts to facilitate Jewish migration and nation-building on the very cusp of World War II.
