A rare pre-war handbill advertising a fight night at Jewish boxing club Maccabi, Berlin, 1936. It features boxers from Maccabi against fighters from Czech club Star-Praha. The back lists the names of the boxers with, of course, their weight classes, with spaces left blank to fill in the names of the winners.

Fighters Hermann Noschkes, Paul Franke, and Oskar Kronfeld had also participated in the second Maccabiah Games, held in Tel Aviv and Haifa in 1935.

The Jewish boxing club Maccabi was founded in 1922. As the Jüdisches Adressbuch für Gross-Berlin stated, the goal of the club was “sportliche Ertüchtigung der jüdischen Jugend durch Boxen, Ringen und Körperkultur”. The club was “jüdisch-politisch neutral”. Apparently after 1933 the club was tolerated for several years in Nazi Germany until its dissolvement in ca. 1938.
