Original marbled wrappers. The date on the title-page changed in manuscript from 1761 to 1762. In fair condition. The wrappers damaged, three deaccession stamps of the Rijksmuseum, a few stains, leave A4 has been cut off and is followed by a inserted blank leaf, possibly indicating that A4 should have been replaced by a cancel. Untrimmed, leaving deckle edges and point holes intact.
Astrological manual by an author whose identity is still unknown.
"El Var Oi" had previously edited an astrological journal, Astronomische waernemingen; of de konst, van den beroemden astrologist, J: C: Ludeman; ontdekt (1761). Illustrated with numerous tables, the present work was intended as a vade mecum, providing ready reference.
Both the Astronomische waernemingen as the present works have been attributed to Franciscus Lievens Kersteman (1728-1792), an author and conman who spent 20 years in prison and who wrote extensively on the German astrologer J.C. Ludeman, but this attribution is highly uncertain.
